Only the Beginning of What I Want to Feel Forever

Timeline, Curated Archive Objects, 2024, for Group Exhibition Isn’t Life a Blast: Real Time Residency, curated by Amy Owen at Gallery 16, SF

Only The Beginning… is a follow up to my 2017 RTS Archivist in Residence project. During my 6-week stay I documented years of membership, resident artists and events. I housed the physical archive in an original vintage flat file left behind by the former print shop that occupied the RTS warehouse. It features editions and documents from artists in residence as well as ephemera from studio members. The archive is now stewarded by current RTS members. For this exhibition, I included the original timeline, and editions and ephemera by 27 artists affiliated with RTS, including 5/5 Collective, Jessalyn Aaland, Torreya Cummings, Cliff Hengst, Beth Krebs and Colin Dickson, Puppies Puppies, Macon Reed, and Zoe Teleporos.

Isn’t Life a Blast: Real Time Residency celebrated Real Time and Space (RTS), the Oakland-based artist-run studio, through the lens of its international residency program. Now in its thirteenth year, many of the nearly one hundred artists and cultural producers that comprise the residency’s alumni have left an indelible mark on the ecosystem of the Bay Area and beyond. Curated by Amy Owen, the show featured Becca Albee, Cliff Hengst, Colter Jacobsen, Connie Zheng, Constance Hockaday, Cristine Blanco, Jackie Im & Aaron Harbour, Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, Jessalyn Aaland, K.R.M. Mooney, Lexa Walsh, McIntyre Parker, Sholeh Asgary, Sofía Córdova, Torreya Cummings, Wilder Alison, and Will Rogan.
